Research Promotion Wing

At Minhaj University, we foster a culture of ongoing professional development and scholarly inquiry among our faculty. As a result, we have witnessed disparate levels of advancement in research output across the various academic departments in recent times. In the present report, we offer a thorough evaluation of the progress achieved by each faculty, with nuanced analysis and perceptive observations. Furthermore, a unified report is included at the conclusion of the document, for the convenience of readers. The following activities are performed by this division.


(1) Academic Research Planning and Strategizing

• Develop a research vision, a long-term policy, and a research mechanism for the university.
• Develop an annual research plan and define deliverables.
• Set Specific and Measurable (SMART) goals for research and development.
• Develop a feasibility and policy report for academic research and relevant capacity-building avenues.

(2) Research Promotion

• Communicate the university`s overall vision for research and development, to the researchers, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Highlight and communicate the developments about research initiatives and strengths across the university.
• Identify Research Publication opportunities in Journals and Conferences and convey them to MUL Researchers through Email, Website, and other media.
• Create awareness among the researchers for the conduct of research execution.

(3) Research Policy Implementation and Monitoring

• Manage annual Research Excellence Award at all levels, from communication to data collection, analysis, reward finalization, and annual Research Excellence Award administration.
• Manage Research Incentive Program from communication to data collection, analysis, Incentive finalization.
• Provide mentorship to novice researchers.
• Implement MUL Research Policy and Monitor overall research execution and procedural efficiencies.

(4) Research Administration and standardization

• Managing and administering the research process at MUL.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive Research Manual for Academic Research Publications.

(5) Internal & External Reporting

• Maintain a record of various research initiatives and activities at MUL.
• Develop consolidate manage and disseminate internal and external manual/ automated reports as per university requirements regarding Academic Research.
• Prepare Research Data and Reports for HEC, BOG office, QEC and other stakeholders when required.


Global Recognition

• Taking Initiatives in various research-related activities required for international recognition on various platforms.
• Maintain the academic research record and Prepare for University Rankings, helping the University in overall improvement of university ranking through Research endeavors.
• Exploit and Capitalize MUL Research to promote Minhaj University at the global level as a leading research university in Pakistan, according to the requirements of various recognition bodies.

Eligibility?

1. The university recognizes, for the research reward, a journal paper published by its faculty/staff in all of the following categories: o Impact factor journal
o ISI/Scopus indexed journal
o HEC’s recognized journal is in “W”, “X”, and “Y” categories.

2. In order to qualify for a research reward, the author’s affiliation mentioned on the Research article must be under the name of “Minhaj University Lahore (MUL)”. 3. Cash rewards will be offered to full-time faculty members only. 4. Researcher having account/profile on Google Scholar, Scopus, Mendeley, Publon and ORCID will be eligible to apply for the cash reward. 5. University does not pay a journal fee for any sort of publication.


Research Excellence Award

Eligibility?

1. MUL recognize for the research award, a journal paper published by its faculty/staff or researchers in any of the following categories; o Impact factor journal
o ISI/Scopus indexed journal
o HEC’s recognized journal is in “W”, “X”, and “Y” categories.

2. Other evaluation criteria include, Books/ Book Chapters, Patents, Conferences, Poster presentations, Research Grants, Research Awards, Thesis Supervisions.
3. Incentives will be offered to full-time faculty members only.
4. To qualify for a research reward, the author’s affiliation mentioned in the research article must be under the name of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL).
5. Papers having more than 10 authors will not be considered.


National Travel Grant Policy

Minhaj University Lahore encourages its researchers and faculty to publish their recent research work in national venues as well. For this, MUL allows an annual number of National Travel Grants, offered as an incentive to its faculty.

Eligibility?

If a faculty member publishes in a national conference, the candidate can apply for such a travel grant and get the opportunity to present their work.
1. In order to qualify for a National Travel Grant, the author’s affiliation mentioned in the research article must be under the name of “Minhaj University Lahore (MUL)”.
2. Travel grant will be offered to the full-time faculty (Lab. Engineer; Lecturer; Assistant Professor; Associate Prof.; and Professor) members only, serving for continuous 1 years at Minhaj University Lahore.
3. A faculty member can avail up to 1 national conference travel grants annually.
4. Researchers having an account/profile on Google Scholar, Scopus, Mendeley, Publon and ORCID will be eligible to apply for the grant.
5. The application must be submitted along with the documents at least 3 weeks prior to the event date. Early submission of applications should be encouraged.
6. Total number of national travels grants for faculty shall depend on the annual travel budget allocation per average travel cost.
7. Depending on the mode of event (online/offline/hybrid), the amount of funds in various subheads could be adjusted by the University Research Council (URC).


International Travel Grant Policy

For a higher education institution to grow, the creation of a research-intensive environment is crucial. Conferences serve the purpose of a platform for quick dissemination of early research results. It also provides an opportunity to create new collaborations around the world, leading to the joint supervision of students, joint proposal writing for international grants and co-authored research articles for the future with people from centers of excellence worldwide. Minhaj University Lahore offers an annual number of international travels grants as an incentive to its researchers and faculty to encourage them to engage in quality research, both nationally and internationally, and collaborate with their peers in order to do applied research with local relevance to the national needs.

Eligibility?

If a faculty member publishes in an international conference, the candidate can apply for such travel grant and get the opportunity to present their work. However, it is subject to the decision of University Research Council on the basis of availability of funds, Applicant’s future prospect and the previous travel history of the researcher.
1. In order to qualify for an International Travel Grant, the author’s affiliation mentioned on the Research article must be under the name of “Minhaj University Lahore (MUL)”.
2. International Travel Grant will be offered to the full-time faculty members in the cadre of Assistant professor or above only, serving for continuous 3 years at Minhaj University Lahore.
3. Researcher having account/profile on Google Scholar, Scopus, Mendeley, Publon and ORCID will be eligible to apply for it.
4. A faculty member can avail up to 1 international conference travel grants annually.
5. Total number of international travels grants for faculty shall depend on the annual travel budget allocation per average travel cost.
6. Depending on the mode of event (online/offline/hybrid), the amount of funds in various subheads could be adjusted on demand by the University Research Council (URC).
7. The application must be submitted along with the documents at least 6 weeks prior to the event date. Early submission of application should be encouraged.
